Mar 14, 2017
Palatka, FL: On March 9, 2017, Detectives with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Drug and Vice Unit arrested thirty-five-year-old Dexter Cedrick Brown. Detectives went to Brown’s residence at 502 East Bay Street in furtherance of a drug investigation. During the investigation detectives seized a bag containing approximately six grams of crack cocaine, a loaded .45 caliber handgun, .45 caliber ammunition, .223 caliber ammunition and drug scales. Brown is a convicted felon, having previously been convicted of possession of cocaine with intent to sell within 1000 feet of a housing project.
Because the residence in which the narcotics were found during this investigation is located within 1000 feet of the James A. Long Housing Complex, Brown was again charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell within 1000 feet of a public housing complex. Brown was also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
Brown is currently incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail on a $25,000.00 bond.
