Putnam County FL: On Wednesday February 15, 2014 at approximately 3:30 pm deputies responded to 101 East Oakside Drive in Interlachen in reference to the report of a battery. At the residence they made contact with a 24-year-old male victim who said his neighbor, later identified as 54-year-old Ana Julia Rodriguez, attacked him with a golf club. The victim said he was walking on Poplar Drive in Interlachen when Rodriguez stopped her car and confronted him about a dirt bike she apparently believed he had stolen from her. They argued and Rodriguez was alleged to have pulled out a golf club and began swinging it at him. The victim said he initially pulled out a knife to defend himself but then ran away. Rodriguez was alleged to have chased him down in her vehicle and to have attacked him with the golf club again.
Deputies made contact with Rodriguez, at her residence, and spoke with her about the incident. After being interviewed, Rodriguez was placed under arrest and transported to the Putnam County Jail where she was booked on one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Rodriguez was later released on a $5,000 bond.
Rodriguez is currently employed as a Putnam County Sheriff’s Office School Crossing Guard. It has been determined she was wearing her uniform at the time of the incident. Consequently, Rodriguez has been placed on administrative leave by the Sheriff’s Office and an administrative investigation of the incident has been initiated.
