|Satsuma, FL: On Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at approximately 7:45 p.m., Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a series of events that culminated in the arrest of John Anthony Troiano, 36 YOA, on charges of domestic violence battery by strangulation, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer without violence.
Deputies initially responded to 314 Edgehill Road in Satsuma, Florida to a battery complaint. They were met by the victim, who indicated that her brother, John came over and started an argument about babysitting her children, ages 9 and 1. The argument escalated to the point that John forcefully pushed the victim into a chair on the front porch. When she tried to get away, John grabbed her around the neck with both hands and began choking her. The victim indicated she did not want to pursue charges, however, because of the allegations of domestic violence, deputies completed a charging affidavit on behalf of the victim.
John left the residence prior to the Deputies arrival and was unable to be located.
Later, Deputies responded to another call for service involving John at 782 State Road 20 in Interlachen, FL. Sheriff’s Office reports indicate that John’s estranged wife, Marci Troiano, called after receiving s series of text messages from John, threatening suicide. Deputies contacted John at the residence and interviewed him about the incident he was involved in with his sister. Following the interview, deputies told John he was under arrest. He refused to comply and pulled away from Deputy Matt Griffin, then grabbed Deputy Griffin by the arm.
Deputy Joe Abbott moved in to assist and John grabbed him in the groin. Deputy Matt Keith also assisted and escorted John to the ground. He continued to resist arrest, so deputies deployed a Taser, causing him to comply. He was taken into custody without further incident.
