On Friday August 16, 2013 the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Drug / Vice Unit, SWAT Team and Rifle Security Team executed two search warrants pertaining to the illegal sale of controlled substances. The search warrants were the result of separate undercover investigations.
Palatka - The first search warrant was served at 1010 Bronson Street, apartment #7 in Palatka. Jamal Kendrick Robinson and Chavarro Dangelo Thomas Jr. were arrested after detectives located numerous narcotic pills, 194 grams of marijuana, an illegal firearm and approximately $3,000.00, which is believed to be the proceeds from illegal drug sales, inside the residence. Robinson, who has been convicted of fifteen previous felonies, was charged with trafficking in Hydrocodone, possession of Oxycodone, possession of more than twenty grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and destruction of physical evidence. The destruction of evidence charge resulted from Robinson flushing powder cocaine down the toilet as the SWAT Team was entering the residence. Thomas was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of an altered firearm. The altered firearm charge resulted after detectives determined that the serial number had been removed from the firearm in his possession. Thomas has two previous felony convictions.
Hawthorne - The second search warrant was executed at 118 Thistle Trail in Hawthorne. Maurice Hamilton and Kevin Williams were identified as the occupants of the residence. The initial search conducted by detectives revealed numerous narcotic pills, drug paraphernalia and three marijuana plants outside the residence. Evidence of dog fighting was also discovered on the property, but no animals were present when the search warrant was executed. Because additional narcotics were believed to be present, a Sheriff’s Office drug sniffing dog was then called upon to assist in the search. Deputy Mike Cooley and his K-9 partner “Aries” were conducting an additional search when “Aries” alerted to the presence of narcotics in a trashcan. A search of the trashcan revealed additional marijuana and cocaine. A stolen notebook computer was also located inside the residence. Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Detectives are conducting further investigation into the circumstances involving the theft of the computer.
Hamilton was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of more than twenty grams of marijuana, cultivation of marijuana, destruction of evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. Williams was charges with trafficking in Hydrocodone, possession of controlled substance, possession of less than twenty grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. At the time of this release, both Hamilton and Williams were incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail.
