|Palatka, FL: On Monday, June 24, 2013, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Deputy Josue Garriga with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of Main Street and 1st Street when he observed a Ford Taurus driving at a high rate of speed.
Deputy Garriga initiated a traffic stop by activating his lights and sirens, but the vehicle increased speed and failed to stop. A brief pursuit ensued and ended when the vehicle attempted to turn onto N. 10th Street. The vehicle lost control and struck a power pole and a fence causing minor damage.
The driver, identified as Arsenio Dennis fled the scene and gave chase on foot. Dennis was apprehended after Deputy Garriga deployed his Electronic Control Device (taser).
Dennis was arrested and charged with two counts of Hit and Run, Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, Driving while License Suspended/Revoked, and Resisting Law Enforcement without Violence. Dennis is being held at the Putnam County Jail with a bond amount of $3520.00.
