|Interlachen, FL: On Saturday, June 8, 2013, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Deputy Jody Hull with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of County Road 315 and Lakewood Drive when he observed a 2010 Chevrolet truck drive off the roadway and onto the shoulder.
Deputy Hull quickly took action by turning his patrol car around in order to follow the truck. Deputy Hull observed the truck swerve and cross over the center line of the roadway several times. Deputy Hull conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Michael Bass.
Bass stumbled as he exited the truck and Deputy Hull could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Bass was unable to balance himself and spoke with slurred speech. Deputy Hull requested Bass submit to a field sobriety test, but Bass refused.
Bass was placed under arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) and refusing to submit to a field sobriety test. Bass was transported to the Putnam County Jail and offered the opportunity to take a Breath Alcohol Test, but Bass refused. Bass was given a bond in the amount of $2,008.00 which was increased due to Bass having a prior refusal and DUI.
