Felony Traffic Stop Conducted to Serve Warrant in Bostwick Area
Bostwick, FL: On Friday August 8, 2014 at approximately 9:30 am Putnam County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Ray Darrell Wilkinson on an active warrant for the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The arrest was made when deputies who were conducting surveillance of his activities watched him leave a residence in the Bostwick area and get into the passenger seat of a car. They followed Wilkinson until the car was safely away from residences and businesses and conducted a felony traffic stop on the vehicle on an unpopulated section of Hwy 17 North. Sheriff’s Office vehicles blocked southbound traffic on Hwy 17 for approximately 15 minutes while the stop was made and Wilkinson was secured. The warrant for his arrest was issued after Sheriff’s Office detectives obtained information linking Wilkinson to the sale of firearms believed to have been stolen during a recent home burglary.
After being interviewed by detectives Wilkinson was booked into the Putnam County Jail on one count of the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and is currently being held on a bond of $50,000.00
