Palatka Man Arrested after Indecent Exposure Incidents
Palatka, FL: On August 1, 2014, Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 26 year old Devon Shermaine Brown for violation of probation after he allegedly exposed himself to multiple female victims over a period of several days. Brown has previous arrests in Putnam County for similar incidents in 2007, 2010 and 2011.
The alleged exposure incidents occurred in the area of Brown’s home at 3300 St. Johns Avenue. The first incident occurred on July 28TH. In this incident, the victim reported she was in her yard when she noticed Brown standing in a neighboring yard. The victim reported that Brown made a noise to get her attention and pulled down his pants when she looked in his direction. The victim stated she has witnessed Brown expose himself to her and other neighbors in the past and she decided to report the incident out of concern that neighborhood children may witness similar incidents.
The second reported incident occurred on August 1ST when the victim was walking her dog on the side walk in front of Brown’s residence. The victim told Deputies that Brown was inside the home, but standing in front of a large, street-facing window with no clothes on. This victim also reported having seen Brown expose himself several times in the past.
Deputies conducted a neighborhood canvas in search of other victims and witnesses and learned that Brown has a history in the neighborhood of this type of behavior. Deputies have not located any juvenile victims of Brown’s indecent exposure incidents at this time.
As a result of the recent offences, deputies obtained a warrant for violation of probation. Brown was arrested on the warrant and is currently being held in the Putnam County Jail without bond. Charges pertaining to the recent exposure of sexual organs cases have been forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office.
Sheriff Hardy is concerned there may be additional victims or witnesses that have yet to come forward. He is requesting that anyone with additional information concerning this case, to please contact the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at (386) 329-0801.
