Palatka, FL: On Sunday, August 11, 2013, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Deputy T.J. Appleby and Deputy William Adams with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded to East Peniel Road in reference to an armed person.
Upon arrival, deputies met with victim, Glenda Johns who stated her boyfriend, identified as Lamar Lucas, pushed her to the ground and put a .22 caliber Ruger revolver to her head. Deputies located Lucas inside the residence and found the loaded weapon in his possession.
The investigation revealed that Johns and Lucas resided together for approximately 7 months when Johns asked Lucas to move out. Johns changed the locks on the doors to the home, but Lucas broke a window and gained entry to the residence as he did not wish to leave. Lucas waited in the living room of the residence for Johns to return home from BINGO.
When Johns entered her home, she encountered Lucas and a verbal argument erupted between the two. Lucas displayed the weapon and allegedly threatened Johns by stating “I’ll shoot you”.
Deputies later discovered that Lucas parked his Nissan Xterra about one mile away from the home and walked to the residence so Johns would not know he was there. After the deputies completed a thorough investigation, it was revealed that Lucas has a non-expiring injunction for protection against him by another party and he is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Lucas was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon without intent to Kill, Battery, and Possession of a Weapon in Violation of an Order for Protection. Lucas was transported to the Putnam County Jail and was given a bond in the amount of $30,012.00.
Sheriff Jeff Hardy stated “Domestic violence of any kind is not acceptable. Fortunately, no one was physically hurt during this incident”.
