|Palatka, FL: On Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Sergeant David Roe with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of Silver Lake Road and State Road 20 when he received information about a reckless driver which almost caused a traffic accident in the city limits.
Sergeant Roe was on the lookout for a white, Ford 350 and he quickly spotted it traveling west at a high rate of speed. Sergeant Roe followed the vehicle making tactical efforts to pull the vehicle over. In an attempt to evade Sergeant Roe, the vehicle turned onto Motes Road and turned off the lights.
Sergeant Roe activated his emergency lights and pursued the vehicle. The vehicle then turned onto Old Railroad Lane and continued traveling at a high rate of speed which was evident from the fish tail style of driving being displayed by the driver.
The vehicle finally stopped at 139 Old Railroad Lane. The driver, identified as Kyle Jacobs was quickly apprehended without incident. Upon making contact with Jacobs, Sergeant Roe detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from Jacobs breath. In addition, Jacobs had slurred speech, watery and bloodshot eyes.
Jacobs was arrested and charged with Resisting Law Enforcement/Fleeing and Eluding and Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Jacobs was given a bond in the amount of $1,508.00.
